Guide for Contributors

Media File Submission

• If possible, provide animation, video and other media files in Flash SWF format for Windows and Mac cross-platform compatibility.
• If other audio and/or video file formats are used, provide files in at least two formats – native for Windows and Mac – ideally WMV (Windows Media Video) and MOV (QuickTime, Sorenson).
• Encode video files at 320x240 to 480x360 size (maximum), 250kbps total bitrate (average).
• Audio should be encoded for optimum quality at 32kbps (minimum), 22KHz (minimum), mono or stereo.
• To submit media files for consideration via e-mail, send a message with attachments to one of the Association Editors or to the Managing Editor. Note: If total size of all files to be submitted is greater than 20MB, please submit either via surface mail, or contact the JBC Webmaster for access to the JBC FTP area to upload files electronically.
• To submit media files via surface mail, please send a CD, floppy disk, or Zip 100 to one of the Association Editors or to the Managing Editor.
• The e-mail or surface mail communication should also contain your name and telephone number. Please also provide a descriptive legend of 40 words maximum for each item. Also, please include contact information.
• Authors should retain duplicates of all materials submitted.
• If original materials are submitted, the JBC cannot be responsible for any damage that may occur during mailing or processing. Artists and photographers are responsible for insuring their work if they desire. Artwork will be returned to authors by regular mail following publication if requested.
